The native Karearea is an endemic bird of prey, the only Falcon found in New Zealand, and often mistaken for the Australian Harrier Hawk. Although found throughout NZ, they are rarer than Kiwi.
NZ Falcon are known for their speed, agility and sharp eyesight. Their short, rounded wings allow them to manouevre quickly through thick native forest.
Falcon symbolise ambition and aspiration, freedom and victory. A Karearea feather worn by Maori warriors, implied they were as fierce and reckless as the Falcon.
This image features a caramel background with cream and chestnut features on the Falcon. (Also available with dusky blue background).
Small prints are packed in a clear cello bag with backing board, larger prints are packed in sturdy cardboard tubes.
All prints come with a story about the Falcon. Framing is available in black, white or natural oak frame.
